Auditions for the cast of "Joseph":

Children auditioning for the choir should come prepared to sing 30 to 60 seconds of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” and/or “Do Re Mi” from THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

All who are auditioning for JOSEPH... on July 8th and 10th please bring a snap shot of yourself and if you have been in plays before, bring a bio as well.

Preparation for auditions: One minute of a ballad type piece from a Broadway show and one minute of an
up-beat Broadway show tune. The following pieces from JOSEPH: "Close Every Door" "Go Joseph" and "Joseph's Coat".

UPDATED 5/28
Note from the Director: If you have researched JOSEPH..., you know the show requires a cast of singers and dancers with lots of energy.
There are obviously more individual male roles than female.
Ladies, please don't let this discourage you from auditioning.
The chorus, with several song and dance numbers, is so very important in this piece.

The female chorus members will play wives, Mrs. Podifer's attendants, adoring girls, and more. We promise lots of On-Stage time with

Day Time Performances open to the public and scheduled for EDUCATORS
[ 1:09:55 PM : June 19, 2007 by KTG ] Archives
Kingsport Theatre Guild will offer educational field trip opportunities for the academic school year 2008-2009. Kingsport Theatre Guild is committed to area educators and we understand the constraints you face in funding and planning quality field trips. Kingsport Theatre Guild will offer two productions next year that specifically cater to school age children.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! (Barbara Robinson) Grades 1-5 approx 1 hour 10:00 AM, December 2 through December 5 2008. Reservations required for field trips. Book now this show sells out fast!!

In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids, probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won't believe the mayhem, and the fun, when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on!

The Secret Garden (Frances Hodgson Burnett) Grades 1-5 approx I hour
10:00 AM, May 5 through May 8 2009. This is a heartwarming story to help end your school year with a live performance. A book to read over the summer will be provided to the first six schools that schedule and reserve a field trip. While supplies last.

The literary classic. Mary Lennox, known as a difficult child, is sent to live at her uncle's estate in England after her parents pass away. Misselthwaite Manor turns out to be a gloomy fortress. Her uncle is rarely home, and his young son, Colin, never leaves his room, convinced he's an incurable invalid. To her surprise, Mary discovers a strange walled garden that has been locked up for years. With the assistance of Dickon, the gardener's apprentice, Mary brings the garden back to life and discovers Dickon's amazing ability to communicate with animals. The garden seems to have a wonderful, magical effect on all who come into it, allowing Mary to help restore Colin to health and to reunite him with his father.*

*Students attending The Secret Garden will receive a copy of the book to take home.

Kingsport Theatre Guild provides a study guide and the cost per student is $5.00. Every teacher, chaperon, aid and driver are complimentary and we can schedule this now to help in your planning for next year.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! and The Secret Garden are both listed on Kingsport City Schools accelerated reading list. Using this field trip can easily support a lesson plan. Kingsport Theatre Guild participates in the Tennessee Arts Commission Student Ticket Subsidy Program and plan to apply when appropriate this summer for each of these shows to be eligible.
